DENTAL HYGIENIST

 

WJM Professionals is recruiting a Dental Hygienist to serve all Active-Duty beneficiaries. The individual shall perform a full range of comprehensive Dental Hygiene procedures and practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The primary workload results from appointments for outpatient and inpatient clients in response to the dental clinic's approved dental treatment schedule.
  • The work environment involves risks typically associated with the performance of clinical dental procedures. The healthcare worker will maintain the concept of universal precautions.
  • The healthcare worker is responsible for a full range of Dental Hygienist procedures to support of the Dental clinic.
  • To treat all Active-Duty beneficiaries presented for care.
  • Case consultation with referring Dental Officer.
  • History, detailed examination, testing (to include blood pressure screening), and diagnosis.
    • Performing dental prophylaxis to include ultrasonic and hand scaling, tooth polishing, and oral hygiene instruction.
    • Performing infection control procedures including disinfection and sterilization as appropriate and using appropriate barrier techniques.
    • Performing extra and intraoral radiography and fluoride treatments.
    • Maintain recall lists and assist in the management of routine Active-Duty screenings.
    • Prepare instruments for sterilization following clinic guidelines.
    • Maintain schedules under the clinic SOP.
    • Coordinate with other healthcare departments and the clinic staff to provide complete care to patients.
    • Maintain patient records following external accreditation organizations and established Coast Guard dental records maintenance requirements.
    • Instruct in basic oral hygiene care.
    • Dispose of contaminated waste following the standard procedures of the Dental clinic.
    • . Expose bitewing, periapical, and occlusal film utilizing bisecting angle or paralleling radiographic techniques.
    • Assist the Dentist as needed.
    • The healthcare worker shall maintain his or her operatory to meet the clinic's standards and may be assigned other duties as directed by the Clinic Administrator.
    • All treatment plan recommendations beyond the capabilities of the clinic will first be referred to the clinic’s Senior Dental Officer or Clinic Administrator before any action is taken.
    • Inventory medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and controls.
    • Greets and receives patients and directs them to appropriate care.
    • Receives and screens phone calls.
    • Files and maintains Healthcare records and electronic health records.
    • Files healthcare reports in health records and electronic health records.
    • Maintains Health Record checkout file.
    • Inputs daily patient information into Clinic health information systems; CC. Schedules and tracks consultations for specialty care.
    • Maintains referral log and notifies patients of appointments.
    • Reviews and verifies patient eligibility for care following Defense Eligibility FF Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) computer system guidelines.
    • Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in applicable regulations.
    • Provides immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur in addition to regularly scheduled appointments.
    • Perform digital radiological procedures

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A diploma or certification from an accredited program of Dental Hygienist.

A current unrestricted active license/certification to practice Dental Hygiene from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands.

  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)
  • Minimum of (1) year of recent clinical experience (immediately preceding the submission
  • No adverse information on file" with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB).

 

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

  • A current resume including AT LEAST the following information:
  • Degrees earned.
  • Professional Experience.
  • Social Security Number.
  • Date of birth (to be used only for independent query of the NPDB);
  • Career history.
  • Professional Training/Courses attended in the past two years.
  • Professional organization affiliations and memberships.
  • Previous work references including name of the organization, number of years rendered, address, and name of the point of contact with the telephone number.
  • Awards and certifications received.

 

Copies of:

 

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Dental Hygiene (a “Polaroid” picture is acceptable as a copy);
  • A current unrestricted active license/certification to practice Dental Hygiene from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands.
  • Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis “A” and “B” and evidence of freedom from chronic communicable disease(s) i.e., HIV, TB, and Sexually transmitted diseases (within 30 days of start of work);
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP);
  • Proof of insurability.
  • At least three (3) letters of recommendation from recent employers.
