ATHLETIC TRAINER

WJM Professionals is recruiting for Athletic Training to provide personal medical services to all Active-Duty beneficiaries. The Athletic Trainer will provide professional service, instruction and supervision to U.S. Coast Guard locations

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Contractor shall perform a full range of professional services expected of a Certified Athletic Trainer on-site, to a variety of patients. The athletic trainer shall perform a full range of athletic trainer procedures.

 

Caseload will include scheduled and unscheduled patients.

  • The athletic trainer’s workload is scheduled by the Physical Therapist (or Athletic Director) in conjunction with the patient’s schedules (i.e. recruits/active duty). The contractor is responsible for a full range of diagnostic examinations. The Contractor shall develop comprehensive treatment plans when indicated. Deliver treatment within the personnel and equipment capabilities. The treatment plan will also include preventive services and mandated medical follow-up instructions. The Contractor shall prepare timely treatment records and reports documenting procedures performed and care provided. The athletic trainer shall refer patients to their Primary Care Manager for consultative opinions and continuation of care when indicated.
  • The athletic trainer may be required to maintain statistical records of his or her clinical workload.
  • Will advise and consult with physical therapists, medical officers, and training division staff (when necessary) to the extent of injuries and or restrictions. A physician will evaluate anyone requiring a limited duty status within 72 hours.
  • Maintain close communications between injured patients and clinic staff keeping appropriate personnel advised of all injuries and restrictions.
  • Manage and direct treatments of sports injuries to include but are not limited to Cryo Cuff, moist heat packs, ultrasound, hydrotherapy, and electrical stimulation.
  • Provide preventive taping and use of numerous protective orthotic devices.
  • Evaluation, prevention, and treatment that include teaching patients progressive therapeutic exercises to restore the patient to pre-injury status.
  • Knowledge and application of rehabilitation therapy for sports injuries independent of supervision.
  • Provide instruction to clinic staff on an ad hoc basis.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine from an accredited College or University, with a minimum of two years’ experience as an Athletic Trainer.
  • B. A current unrestricted license to practice Athletic Trainer Services in the assigned State. California applicants are exempt as this is the only state not requiring a license.
  • Shall maintain current certification as required for a membership in the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent (immediately preceding the submission of this offer) professional experience.
  • “No adverse information on file” with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB).
  • The Athletic Trainer shall be physically capable of performing all athletic training services.

CREDENTIAL REVIEW

The individual shall submit the following credentials to be evaluated for technical acceptability.

A current curriculum vitae including AT LEAST the following information:

  • Social security number (for background investigation)
  • Date of birth (to be used only for independent query of the NPDB);
  • Degrees earned.
  • Career history;
  • Professional Training/Courses attended in the past two years.
  • Professional organization affiliations and memberships.
  • Previous work references including the name of the organization, number of years services rendered, address, and name of the point of contact with the telephone number.
  • Awards and certifications received.

 

COPIES REQUIRED

  • A diploma from an accredited school of Sports Medicine (a “Polaroid” picture is acceptable as a copy);
  • A current unrestricted license as an Athletic Trainer in the assigned State;
  • Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis “A” and “B” and evidence of freedom from chronic communicable disease(s) i.e., HIV, TB and Sexual transmitted diseases;
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP);
  • Social Security Number (for background investigation);
  • At least three (3) letters of recommendation from recent employers addressing athletic trainer services.
