We are currently recruiting for a Dental Assistant at US Coast Guard, Kodiak, AK

Key Responsibilities: 

The Dental Assistant will support dental providers in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality dental care in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), clinic protocols, and regulatory standards. 

• Prepare treatment rooms, dental instruments, and materials for patient procedures. 

• Assist dentists during examinations, restorations, extractions, and other clinical procedures. 

• Take dental radiographs (X‑rays) using proper safety and protection techniques. 

• Sterilize, disinfect, and maintain dental instruments and equipment. 

• Record patient information, treatment notes, and dental charting accurately in the dental record system. 

• Provide patients with pre‑procedure and post‑procedure instructions. 

• Manage dental supply inventory and ensure availability of materials. 

• Schedule patient appointments and support front‑office administrative duties as needed. 

• Maintain infection control and universal precautions in accordance with dental standards. 

• Support dental readiness, mass screenings, and preventive services when assigned. 

Qualifications: 

• Certificate or formal training as a Dental Assistant.

• Must meet one of the following education or experience pathways: graduation from a CODA‑accredited dental assistant program, completion of a military dental assistant/technician program, or completion of a Red Cross Dental Assistant course—each requiring at least 12 months of experience within the past 36 months; or a minimum of 36 months of Dental Assistant experience in a private practice or military clinic within the past 48 months; or graduation from a state‑accredited dental assistant or dental technology program within the past 12 months.
• Minimum of one (1) year of full‑time Dental Assistant experience within the last two (2) years.
• Ability to maintain required continuing education, if applicable.
• Must successfully pass all WJM & USCG background checks.
