PHYSICAL THERAPIST

BOARD CERTIFIED

 

A board-certified physical Therapist is needed at the USCG in Cape May, NJ to provide personal medical services to all Active-Duty beneficiaries.

 

The Physical Therapist shall meet or exceed the industry standards in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics of the Physical Therapy profession. The standard of performance shall reflect the degree and care, skill, and learning expected of a healthcare provider in the Physical Therapy profession in the state of their practice.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The provider of Physical Therapy services shall possess and maintain the following:

 

  • A diploma from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
  • A current unrestricted active license to practice Physical Therapy from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands.
  • A current certification in the field of Physical Therapy. Preferred orthopedics or sports board certification, but not required.
  • “No unfavorable information on file” rating with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB).
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience (immediately preceding the submission of this offer).
  • All applicants shall have at least 3 years of experience working in outpatient orthopedics.

 

CREDENTIAL REVIEW:

 

The individual shall submit the following credentials to be reviewed:

 

  • A current curriculum vitae including AT LEAST the following information
  • Degrees earned;
  • Career History;
  • Awards and certifications received;
  • Professional Training/Courses attended in the past two (2) years;
  • Professional organization affiliation and memberships; and
  • Previous work reference(s), including name of organization(s), number of years services rendered, address and name of the point of contact with telephone number;
  • Evidence that active Physical Therapy has been practiced during 3 of the last 5 years immediately preceding performance under this contract;
  • “No adverse information on file” with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB)
  • A diploma from an accredited school of Physical Therapy;
  • A current unrestricted active license to practice Physical Therapy from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands;
  • A list of any malpractice claims filed, OR pending, or settled and/or any other adverse professional actions that involve the contractor;
  • A current certification from the American Physical Therapy Association;
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
  • Three letters of recommendation from previous employers.

 

Professional Services. The Contractor shall perform a full range of professional Physical Therapy concepts and practices on site, using government furnished facilities, equipment, and supplies to a variety of patients. All aspects of Physical Therapy service shall be commensurate with the capabilities of the provider and the Medical Department, including but not limited to the items listed below and in the PWS. The Contractor shall provide a full range of Physical Therapy services commensurate with the capabilities of the clinic, including compiling a history and providing detailed recommendations/instructions to include, but not limited to:

 

  • History, detailed examination, testing, and evaluation of the management of common musculoskeletal conditions. Provide manual muscle and joint testing, total musculoskeletal range of motion evaluations, and diagnosis.
  • Treatment plan, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, functional activities, gait training, orthotics training, prosthetic training, kinetic activity training, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, manual traction, mechanical traction, massage, contrast baths, ultrasound, apply hot and cold packs, and Vaso pneumatic devices and whirlpool diathermy.
  • Case consultation with referring Medical Officer.
  • Post-surgical care consultations from referring medical officers.
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems, as they occur, in addition to regularly scheduled appointments.
  • Provide individual counseling about the effects and benefits of prescribed exercise regimens, physical fitness, and other related programs.
  • Participate in the Health Services Quality Improvement Program.
  • Provide instruction to clinic staff on an ad hoc basis.

 

Hours of Performance.

 

  • Hours are specified by the Clinic Administrator.
