Description

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Shall provide personal medical services to all eligible beneficiaries within the capabilities granted to a Pharmacy Technician.

The Pharmacy Technician shall meet or exceed the industry standards in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics of the Pharmacy Technician profession. The standards of performance for all employees shall reflect the degree of skill, attention to detail, and production expected of a reasonably prudent Pharmacy Technician in the state of their practice.

The Pharmacy Technician shall perform a full range of professional Pharmacy concepts and practices on-site to a variety of patients. All aspects of Pharmacy service shall be commensurate with the capabilities and training of the technician and the Pharmacy Department, including but not limited to the items listed below.

Qualifications

The provider of Pharmacy Technician services shall possess and maintain for the duration of this agreement:

  • Prepare, package, compound, label, and dispense pharmaceutical products and medications.
  • Review orders written by authorized providers. (i.e., Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, Health Services Technicians, etc.)
  • Provide patient counseling relative to a medication's use, contraindications, and product warnings.
  • Maintain pharmacy logs and other records as required.
  • Maintain inventory levels.
  • Order supplies.
  • Restock pharmacy supplies.
  • Receive, review, and process prescriptions utilizing the pharmacy’s computer program/system.
  • Receive and process prescription refills by phone.
  • Communicate effectively with the patients, providers, and other ancillary personnel.
  • Inventory medical and pharmaceutical product stocks to ensure adequate supplies and inventory controls.
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.
  • Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in applicable regulations.
  • Maintain required pharmacy security.
  • And other administrative work as assigned by the Pharmacist or Clinic Administrator.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A current resume including AT LEAST the following information:
  • Degree / Certification earned.
  • Professional Experience.
  • Career history.
  • Professional Training/Courses attended in the past two years.
  • Professional organizational affiliations and memberships.
  • Previous work references, including name of organization, number of years employed, address and name of point of contact with telephone number.
  • Awards and certifications received.
  • A diploma/certification from an accredited Pharmacy Technician school.
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
  • Individuals not graduating from an accredited school must provide proof of a minimum of 1 year of work experience (immediately preceding the submission of this offer) in a military, federal, civilian retail, or hospital pharmacy providing like services. New or recent (past 4 months) graduates without experience will be placed on a 90-day probationary period upon hire and must provide 2 letters of recommendations from their Pharmacy Technician school professors/instructors regarding their expected potential success in this field.
  • "No adverse information on file" with the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) or any state Board of Pharmacy.

COPIES OF:

  • A diploma or certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician school (a copy is acceptable).
  • A current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
  • At least two (2) letters of recommendation from recent employers addressing pharmacy services. Recent graduates must provide 2 letters of recommendation from their Pharmacy Technician school professors/instructors regarding their potential for success in the field.
