WJM Professional Services, LLC is a leading healthcare management firm with 19 years of experience providing healthcare personnel, case management services, and administrative staffing services to government agencies, HMOs, hospitals, clinics, and the private sector, including the Defense Health Agency, the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to perform services at the United States Coast Guard in Cape May, NJ.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide essential medical services to all Active-Duty beneficiaries within the capabilities granted to a Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Assistant (CMA/MA) at the United States Coast Guard, including:
- Assess patients' needs for CMA/MA care, plans for medical interventions, and assess
the effectiveness of the interventions and alters the medical plan and interventions appropriately. - Administers oxygen, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medication.
- Prepares patients for surgical and or diagnostic procedures.
- Prepares, operates, and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, etc.
- Inventory medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and controls.
- Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur, in addition to regular scheduled appointments.
- Greets and receives patients to the clinic and discreetly ascertains the nature of their illness or condition and directs them to appropriate care.
- Responds to requests for routine non-medical information such as duty status.
- Receives and screens phone calls.
- Files and maintains Healthcare records.
- Files health care reports in health records.
- Maintains Health Record checkout file.
- Inputs daily patient information into the Coast Guard Healthcare Information Systems.
Qualifications:
- A certificate or associate’s degree as a CMA/MA from a state accredited program and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months, or
- Certification from a military medical assistant (i.e. Health Services Technician, Hospital Corpsman) “A” school and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months, or,
- 36 months’ experience within the preceding 60 months as a medical assistant in a private practice and completed the requirements for certification. The National Commission for Certifying Agencies, part of the institute for Credentialing Excellence, accredits four certifications for medical assistants:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Meical Technologists
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Health career Association
- Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for health care provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
- Must pass WJM and Fairfield AFB background checks
